OCTOBER MANTRA
Hello everyone,
How have you been? I hope you've been enjoing fall so far! I am so excited about October.
It's been all cosy with the trees changing colors and the weather cooling off. I am so ready to carve some pumpkins and get the sweaters out!
Reflecting on the past month, I feel like the best word to put it all together is healing.
I went to visit family and friends in Ohio over fall break and I really got to get away from my daily life to just think. Reflecting on your life can really be peaceful, putting the pieces back together, and making sense of all the unease in your life.

hello October -
You know, it is hard to not let pain dictate our thoughts, words, and actions. I see it within myself - when I am upset, it is hard for me to not fuel my actions with the unease I am feeling.
But do I want to be defined, maybe even mistaken for those qualities? No. I refuse to see myself as a hate driven person.
I always thought that you need to have hard conversations in order to grow and learn. But I was totally wrong. Instead of having hard conversations, replace the word hard with healing.
We are generally using harsh language when having a hard conversation. Replace them with healing words. Everybody can be harsh, however, it shows real strength to be able to stay calm and kind in the moments of unease.
Cleo Wade, Where To Begin (2019)
"When we confront others, are we rooting for their healing, or are we focusing on ourselves being right and them being wrong? Are we bringing our most healed self to conflict? The self that is focused on a just and peaceful outcome? Are we speaking to people in a way that believes in their ability to change, or in a way that merely shames their position?"
With healing I mean look at the energy you embody.
Realise that the person that is causing you unease does not need to change in order for you to start healing. You do not need all of humanity to be a good person in order to be a good person. Just like you do not need another person to have the intention of healing. All you need is you. Your words can heal yourself. You are in charge whether or not you want to be stuck in the prison of conflict forever. Let the other person stay there if they decide to, but love yourself enough to,..
...be stronger through kindness
...be stronger through bringing your basic goodness of your spirit back in charge.
...be stronger through healing words.
Love yourself enough to set yourself free
In love,
Lara
